A native of Chicago, Illinois, Rev. Dr. J. Allen Harrison was raised in a single parent home in the Englewood area. Reared in the church, he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and was baptized at age four. By the age of nine years old, he had begun to demonstrate signs that God had a special call on his life. In August of 1993, after many personal struggles, Dr. Harrison finally surrendered to God's voice and accepted the call to ministry. He would later realize that his experiences would become the catalyst for his God-breathed ministry. His testimony of overcoming a personal life of pain has been a source of strength and hope to all who have encountered this man of God.
In 2000, his heart and sensitivity for people struggling with addictions prompted him to found, New Found Favor Ministries. Through this spiritual venture and partnering with local organizations, Rev. Harrison assisted many in overcoming their battles with substance abuse.
